Noblesville is a small town in Indiana about 25 miles north of the city of Indianapolis. The main tourist draw for the town is the Noblesville Main Street downtown district. The district is a historic district that preserves its roots while also being a business district that continues to provide economic development for the town of Noblesville.

The town of Noblesville’s history began in 1818 when the land was purchased from Native Americans. The town began to grow in the 1850s when the railroad arrived and began operating with a stop in Noblesville. However, the real growth did not begin until the 1880s when the first natural gas well was located in the town. The history of the town is presented with artifacts at the Hamilton County Museum, which is one of the attractions in the Noblesville Main Street district.

While the Hamilton County Museum and nearby Hamilton County Sheriff’s Residence and Jail are attractions in the Main Street district, the main reason tourists visit Noblesville Main Street is to visit the shops and restaurants in the historic main street setting. The businesses in the district include a wide variety of shops as well as restaurants to appeal to different tastes.

The shops in Noblesville Main Street sell items such as antiques, art, clocks, clothing, gifts, and jewelry. One of the more interesting antique shops is Randy’s Toy Shop, which not only sells antiques and toys, but also still offers repair services. Another one of the more unique shops is Noblesville Clock Company, which sells a wide variety of clocks from miniature to grandfather clocks.

The Noblesville Main Street restaurant cuisine options include ice cream, pizza, brewery, deli, subs, Italian, and coffee. One of the more popular stops is the old fashioned ice cream parlor called Alexander’s on the Square. Another great stop for relaxing in between shopping is The Ruby Pear, which is a tea room restaurant.

Throughout the year Noblesville Main Street hosts a variety of town events. The annual events include a 4th of July Festival and Parade, a Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, a Christmas Parade, and Christmas Celebration on the Square. The Main Street area is also where the local Farmer’s Market takes place on Saturdays in the summer months.
