Many, many years ago, when people didn’t know anything about electricity they used their proper, weak, misleading senses. Women choose men and men choose women following their nose. What a happy world that was!

An hour ago, I decided to invite a girl, who I got to know through an internet dating site, to meet up tomorrow night.  And the problem begins: I’m very sensitive to smell, and as you probably know, the internet and smell don’t have a lot in common. There is the list of scents from the ladies perfume counters which I adore, there is also a list of those fragrances which I like a little bit less than others, and there’s also a small list of scents which I prefer not to tell you how they affect me and what I do when I smell them. Yes, the nose is a powerful thing.

Internet dating is fine, of course, I mean in 99% of cases my disappointment has to do more with their legs, than their smell, but there’s also this fatal 1%. Here’s an example: I fall in love seeing her from a distance, I move closer, closer, shut my eyes, still closer… oh my god! And I feel something so strong, so suffocating, too sweet, too deep, too mixed, with a smell of too many creams of her mask, I mean her make-up, I want to kiss her romantically in the ear and instead of that I’m… sneezing! What a shame! And this is our first meeting in the flesh, before only bla-bla on chat; we just say “Hello, darling, what a beautiful sm…” and… sneezing.

I guess it’s not so difficult to resolve this problem. Internet dating sites should include a small fabric of smells hidden between microphone and speakers. When she appears on the screen she can touch a special combination of keys on the keyword and then on the other site, 10cms to my nose, a delicate wave of jasmine appears in the air… What a fantastic opportunity to lie and seduce a man on the other side of the Moon…
