Jesus Is At The Center of The Mormon Religion

The real name for the Mormon church, is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mormons definitely believe in the same Jesus that is in the Bible. They believe that Christ was central to God’s plan from the beginning.  When asked, “are Mormons Christians“, I answer of course they are.

Something that is a little bit different from other religions, is that the Mormon religion believes that Jesus Christ created the earth. Mormons believe fairly strongly in a preexistence. They believe that we all lived in heaven with God before we were born. Mormons believe that the earth is a type of test. As part of this task, we came to earth, and we will exercise our agency and our faith to see whether or not we will choose to follow the teachings of Jesus in our daily lives. Some people ask whether or not Mormons are Christian, and the answer is that they are Christian.

Mormons believe that God has plans for us even before we came to earth. When Adam and Eve partook of the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden, they were exercising their free agency. God knew that they would partake of the tree, and so he prepared a way for them to return to live with him. We know from Scripture that no unclean thing can live with God. In order to return to live with God, we have to be clean from our sins. The way that God provided for us to return to live with him was through a mediator. Christ suffered the atonement and death on the cross, so that we could be resurrected and so that we could repent of our sins. Through his atonement, and our willingness to repent, we can become more and more like Him.
