Dangers Of Black Mold
Black mold, or know scientifically as Stachybotrys, is a fungus that is green-black in color and is usually found on high-cellulose material. Before it sets in and dries it is slimy and wet. It easily sets in on areas that maintain a high level of humidity to help the mold colonize. When it dries, it sticks and there is concern that no matter what technique is used, it can never be permanently eliminated from the surface.
Some black mold is toxic and other black molds are non-toxic but can still cause minor allergy or breathing issues. If the black mold is found on a non-porous area such as a wall or vinyl or plastic, it is more than likely non-toxic and even though it still is nasty to look at or have, the threat to one’s health is significantly lower than if it was found on wood, carpet, instillation, or fabric of any kind.
Toxic black mold exposure is dangerous to any person, especially one with already existing respiration problems, AIDS, or anyone going through chemotherapy. It is even more dangerous to babies, young children, and the elderly who have been known to be more susceptible to health issues concerning black mold exposure
Symptoms of black mold poisoning are trouble breathing, increased asthma symptoms, joint aches and pains, allergies, increased fatigue, headaches, sore throat, skin irritation, diarrhea, and in extreme cases it can cause life-threatening illnesses. Exposure to toxic black mold can lead to damage to vital organs, brain, liver, cancer, kidney failure, and vascular damage. Toxic black mold symptoms are important to recognize, especially if you suspect you or someone else you know may be exposed to black mold.
Black mold poisoning symptoms may be reversible but there is also a lot of it that is not and the permanent damage can be devastating. The only way to try and prevent black mold from finding a home is to make sure that all porous areas are well ventilated. A dehumidifier can also be used as well to lower the chances of this fungus growing in your home, car, or business.
I very much agree with you post. Black mold is very sneaky and begins to take hold of your health in ways that appear to be other malladies. For instance, migraine headaches are a big symptom which usually get treated and no other cause is associated with them (except for stress). My thinking is that the immune system becomes so busy fending off mold infestation that other diseases can then get a good start in destroying your health. I believe that cancers, lung ailments and the like can frequently be avoided if a person suspects and clears up mold issues in their environment. It won’t be everyone that is affected taht way but I feel that it is worth the effort to clean your indoor environment and then you will never find out if the mold in your home is making you ill.
